North American Occupational Safety & Health (NAOSH) Week May 4 - 10, 2008
Safety & Health: A Commitment For Life!
Start Today! Live It Every Day!
Reminder! The 2008 "Safety on the Job" Poster Contest has been launched with a new category!
The CSSE is pleased to launch this popular poster contest again in 2008 with a new opportunity to submit computer-generated posters!
This year, posters can be submitted in two ways, as free-hand drawings or as computer-generated posters. Full details for each category follow, as well as the necessary entry forms.
- Entry is open to the children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews of CSSE members and/or NAOSH Week Regional Committee members between the ages of 5 and 18.
- In both categories, the poster must relate to the theme “Safety on the Job” and should illustrate an example of safety at work. As you know, the description of the workplace is wide-ranging -- it can be at an office, a manufacturing plant, on the road, in a plane, on a train, a ship, a dock, at home, at the country’s borders, a store, fire or police department, construction sites, parks, pools, schools, etc. The NAOSH Week theme of “Start Today! Live It Every Day!” may also be incorporated.
- Criteria for judging---creativity and how well the poster expresses the contest theme “Safety on the Job.”
- Only one entry per child will be allowed. Parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles are limited to verbal assistance only.
- All entries must be postmarked by Friday March 7, 2008. All entries become the property of CSSE once submitted.
- An independent panel of judges will select the four winning entries in each category that best illustrate the theme ‘Safety on the Job.’
- A $200 prize will be awarded to each of the four winners in each category.
Category A: Free-Hand
There will be four age categories with a winner from each age category: ages 5-6; ages 7-8; ages 9-10 and ages 11-12.
The finished poster must be no larger than 11” x 14”. Designs should be submitted on quality poster illustration board or heavy paper. Crayons or drawing pencils only should be used. All drawings must be an individual effort and be free-hand originals. No traced pictures please.
Each poster must have contestants name, age, address, telephone number, e-mail address if available and parent’s/grandparents/aunt/uncle's name clearly printed on the entry form and attached to the back of the poster to be eligible. Also add the name of the school they attend and their hobbies.
